Brazed-on? Clip-on? derailiuer?

Heya all,
I'm searching around for a new derailleur that will allow me to upgrade to a triple front crank, I've found what I need on dotbike.com but I'm not sure which one I require.
Could anyone shed some light on the terms:
Brazed on type? & Clip on type?
Do they mean brazed on as in welded? The current Shimano 2200 series front derailleur I have has a I assume clip on version, this sounds like I'm answering my own question but I'm really unsure here.
Could anyone give me some advice?
Kind regards,
MajorPayne
P.S: I'll also work on making my images smaller, sorry all. How does 480x360 sound?

You need a clamp-on type and judging by the photo, 28.6mm clamp diameter. Alternatively, you could buy a braze-on and use a separate clamp-on adaptor. FWIW 28.6mm is becoming less commonMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Awesome, thanks very much for the reply mate.
I'm in contact with the guy who I assume owns the dotbike site and I've emailed him today regarding ordering the derailleur and I'm trying to work out about the Bottom Bracket and if it is the correct size I have that will go on my second-hand Shimano Sora triple crank to the current Shimano 2200 series kit the bikes setup with, if you get me..
I'm digging through some links I've kindly been given and to say the least I'm having a slight bit of trouble sizing it all up but it's something I need to sort out otherwise I'll never learn eh!
Thanks again mate,
Kind regards,
MajorPayne

Look at this quick guide from Evans, simple enough I think.
http://www.evanscycles.com/buying-guides/front-mechs
The current mech you have is either a 28.6 or 31.8mm band on mech, more likely the 28.6mm size. Top and bottom swing has yet to cross over from MTB to roadbikes yet.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
Almost all road bike front mechs are bottom-pull, top-pivot - there isn't enough clearance on a road frame between the seat tube and the tyre to accept anything else.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

You guys are awesome, cheers for all the help with the lingo on how these things work
I've won[think I mentioned] some Shimano Sora parts, Triple crank, Triple levers and some of the parts seem to be able to just transfer over to my Shimano 2200 series kitted out racer I think I'm going to need a new front mech and possibly a Bottom Bracket but from reading about I think I might just be able to use the one I've got which will save me £20 along the way.
Now I've sorted out which size front mech and model I need I'm going to in the next week or so buy it from the nice chap who owns dotbike as he's been very helpful via emails with advice and pointing me in the right direction for other parts I might be needing along the way.
Well it's just nice to meet a nice community of people online willing to help out newbies to the road works
Kind regards and thanks again for all the wonderful information,
