Haha, thanks man! The seat has been replace by a (free) Charge Spoon which is nice and comfy and weirdly grippy! But I've that to be quite useful!

The Trek has been taking a bit of a hammering recently as I'm trying to get prepared for the Alps and have been wanting to use my shiny new Gopro helmet cam! Either the frame or the crank took a pretty massive hit from a rock last week at Haldon forest, but worringly am yet to find any sign of damage. With the noise it made I was expecting to find a big dent or at very least a massive scratch but so far nothing. I'm worried that I'm going to discover a dent or crack in the frame a week before the Alps when it'll be too late to sort it!

When and where are you going? We're driving to Les Gets on 24th July until 31st. Still working out final transport details yet.

Update time! Been getting the bike ready for the Alps (on friday!!), so now have super tacky highrollers on the front and rear, rotated the brake levers round, loctited every bolt possible and lowered the air pressure in the forks and shock. New additions include a Charge Spoon saddle and some new Easton Haven bars! Loving the bars, they've made it a lot easier to huck off jumps and drops and also give them a bit of style!

A few changes since coming back from the Alps. Bike held up extremely well, only problem was that the gear cable snapped! Everything else stayed tight, true and worked flawlessly! Considering my friends Scott Voltage FR30 boiled his brakes, knackered his rear tyre and chain device, and one of the others who has a Marin Wolfridge also snapped his gear cable, knackered both brakes and forks, I have maximum respect for the Remedy! Fell off about 4 or 5 times (only one big one) and took numerous boulder strikes to the frame. The noise the rocks used to make when hitting the frame I kept expecting to find massive dents on the downtube but found nothing except a couple of chips in the paint.
Anyway, onto the upgrades. My mate bought me a KCNC gold chain for my birthday which has gone on and looks awesome. Also bought some Formula ORO K24's for my other bike from the Formula website for a "special price" because they have the black calipers but Puro levers (chrome-ish). I fully intended to put these on the Boardman, until they arrived and I saw how amazing the levers looked! They look like Sram Blackbox levers so it makes me feel like a pro! So they have gone onto the Remedy, along with a black rear caliper to match the frame and the white caliper to match the forks. Gone are the Hope floating rotors and on have gone some Formula ORO rotors. I have also harvested the Sram X9 rear mech and shifter from the Boardman and put it on the Trek as the shifting was far far better than SLX, and it also meant I could use a fancy matchmaker clamp! That's all the updates for now, run out of things to change!

    looks really nice!

    great looking bars
  • 2 Questions; 1. Did the front Hope brake have 3 Pistons? and if so, 2. Whats the difference in power like to the formula's?
  • how have you found the superstar hubs? do they pick up well?

The front Hope brake had 6 pistons! Think it was quite knackered and needed a decent bleed, but the power from the Formula's is on another planet. Having tried Hope, Avid, Shimano and Formula brakes, I now wouldn't anything else. Ever. The feel is nice and firm in the lever unlike all the spongey Hope rubbish I've had before.

The Superstar hubs are brilliant. Can't fault them at all. Pick up is insanely quick, plus the noise is mental! It's hella loud and distinctive. To the point that my friend was sitting in the Dr's in Morzine, and heard my hubs and knew I'd arrived whilst I was still at the end of the drive! He said it was the best (and most re-assuring) noise he'd ever heard!
