ive just been checking my sag on my rock shox rev 426
when removing all the air, the bottom part of the fork doesnt touch the crown of the fork. by at least 20mm.
which means my 140mm forks are 120mm!!!!
whats that all about???
im under the impression that the fork should compress all the way up to the top
please help

Not *completely* to the top, but from memory the wiper seals should get within 5-8mm of the crown. However, 20mm sounds too much.
IIRC it's oil leaking from the damping mechanism and accumulating in the bottom of the RH fork leg. Upon compresion the fork goes into a "hydrolock", stopping short of maximum travel. Fixing it involves replacing an O-ring...somewhere...however, I can't recall which nor where right now! Said to be quiet easy, mind...0 -

That's the LH leg that contains the spring. The problem is within the RH leg with the damping system. That "liquid" from the air valve is normal: it's the lubricating oil from within the chamber that keeps it sealed and sweet. To reduce/prevent this, turn the bike upside down before inflating/deflating the chamber. Not sure on colour though, never looked: I normally forget to invert and end up gently misting my discs with fork oil!0 -
