in the New York Times about the growth of biking in declining cities. Maybe there is hope for us yet!

    Detroit has masses of poverty areas now doesnt it. I can see it happening in places in the UK within 5 years - if the economy keeps going the way its going.

    there already big urban areas with huge poverty areas in the uk, most if not all of the old coal and iron heart lands are in a terrible state, with not much in the way of biking to be honest. bar the odd sportive that travels past.
