Is it worth buying a Cannondale Prophet before they die out?

Cannondale is not continuing the Prophet line from 2010 and I'm seriously thinking of snapping one up if I can get one.

I think the Prophet was truly ahead of its time and was one of the first true 'do everything bikes'

Only issue I have as always is the superlow standover - hate it when my seatpost is on full display.

Prophet users should I get one? How does she handle?

I think the Prophet looks cool. The head angle adjustability is a great feature and the single pivot suspension looks mighty plush.

Thinking of getting one as I feel it's a piece of mtb history that was never truly understood.

Yes it's an amazing bike - I'm selling mine. Are you actually wanting a Prophet?
    Fox Vanilla,
Mavic Crossride + Highrollers - tubeless
    Hayes El Camino
    Manitou Swinger
    Polished frame
Specialized low profile pedals which I may actually keep... Depends how badly you want them.
    XT chainset and BB
Sram shifters and mechs (can't remember which model)

How much is it worth to you?

Why are you that bothered if they don't continue the Prophet..? If you wait untill the 2010 bikes come out Naveed, you can probably hagge a good percentage off, especially as it will be a discontinued model. As you say, it's a pretty unpopular (and no, I'm NOT saying it's bad, just has a relatively low sales volume) bike, so chances are they'll be a few stores with 'em kicking around.

But if you want it, buy it. If you don't, you'll always have the ''maybe I should have bought the Cannondale'' though niggling away, and you'll purposely pick faults with whatever you will be riding....

    I know!

But yeah, if you want it, buy it. Someone has to save the economy

I've never been a fan of the way the prophet looks. The way the mini-front-top-tube and shock are out of line makes it look like a ballsed up marin/whyte cast-off.
But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that.

Also, naveed, the low standover height on these style of frames won't affect the amount of seat post sticking out. The increased standover is because the way the top tube(s) dip in the center.

I assume your still talking about the prophet here? I think its far from unpopular, try buying one. They have sold out in most places. The only place youll get an XL now is if a shop does have one kicking around, Cannondale dont have any, i know for a fact, ive got the last one in XL. If you wait till the 2010 release i think youll find that there wont be any.

I have just bought a Prophet before they die out, and I'm really happy with it. My first full sus bike and it does everything I need and more. By all accounts this bike gets as good reviews (if not better) than the Pitch, and if its a great all mountain adjustable bike your after then get one before they all go... if there are any left! Some say its not a good looking bike, but I like its looks, its a classic bike. Remember, Cannondale will not be 'Handmade in the USA' anymore so these last Prophets are really the last of their kind. Also with the expected price rises for all 2010 bikes, it makes sence to grab a decent 09 bike (with a bit of discount) while you can.

TBH i bought my Prophet about 8/9 weeks ago, yeah its not as "good looking" as some other bikes, but it does its job great. And for the price (esp with the B2W prices) can't really complain.

Though I'm off in the RAF soon, so i'll have more £ to spend on my next bike :)

I'd give it a good 8/10, not the greatest but excellent for its price.

Edit: When i took my bike in for service today there was somebodys prophet there, real nice build, more a FR build tho (Damn, wish i could remember the spec, but i've changed my mind on wheels, there gonna be white rims now... *looks*)

So, the 2010 bikes are on the Cannondale web site. A few new colour schemes (and no doubt a price hike also) but nothing too shocking in the range. It seems the Rize range will try to fill the gap left by the Prophet. I looked at the Rize 5, nice bike but I could not see it as £500 more than the Prophet 2 that I bought. Maybe thats why the Prophet range has been phazed out... not enough Profit in the Prophet for Cannondale!

Well, I'll be putting it up on BR classifieds in the next few weeks. I've not got it advertised anywhere yet - how much do you have for a bike, what is it worth to you, put me in a reasonable offer and you may very well get it!
Really, I don't know how much to sell it for. I was hoping for £900+ Probably advertise it at £1100 and be willing to be bartered down. Yes I know what I am doing is not good sales technique, but drop me an offer and I'll consider it!
