Yeah, true. The '1980 guy is basically a troll, but GeorgeM is ok and down to earth on most things. And lets face it, they're not arguments.. they have no basis in logic in much the same way as saying anything about any other minority.0 -
Can you imagine letting us lot loose on the pavements? It would be carnage.
Another quick point, not everyone who rides a bike around town is a "cyclist" in my opinion. A true road cyclist is someone who considers themselves as another road user and sticks to the rules of the road. Not hopping on and off kerbs or crossing at ped crossings when it suits them.
Fingers crossed that the lady pulls through ok._________________________________________________

I dunno, GeorgeM there seems to be spouting a lot of nonsense.
"How often have you seen a tailback of 20 or so cars, behind one cyclist? "
I'm unconvinced I've ever seen tailbacks of cars behind a cyclist for any period of significant time, I might see a couple stuck behind one whilst an obstacle is negotiated, but never to the extent of actually hindering travel times.0 -

I also tend to make distinctions between "cyclists", and "people who ride bikes" in the same way that you don't call people running for buses runners. I don't deem the latter to be derogatory, just with different motivations for cycling.
I'm not sure I concur with your definition though, for me a cyclist is someone who considers a bike as more than a method of transport.0 -

He was there, yes. When he's commented on other stories he's been more sensible. I'm tempted to create a tailback now. :twisted:0 -
I've also decided I'm quite amused by this comment of his:
"For example, a few months ago I was driving along an A-road at about 11pm, when it was dark and saw a cyclist with no reflective clothing or lights."
I would query the need for additional visibility aids when the cyclist has already been seen0 -
The thing that narks me about it is the guy that says we should be on the pavement.
Hang on didn't this happen because the girl was using a ped crossing? I wasn't there obviously but it sounded to me that if she'd been riding on the road there wouldn't have been an accident.

I've just posted up the penalties of pavement riding on there.0 -

I get the joke, but seriously, there are cyclists that do nothing to be seen, and get seen too late.
Especially early morning or late evenings, the glare from the sun can really obscure a cyclist without lights or reflective clothing.0 -

I agree, but just wanted to put a point across briefly._________________________________________________
