Had a moment of madness and decided to be a roadie for a day..... so I cycled through to a local neighbouring town 13 miles away along the back roads....

All was fine and I was making good time, then it began to rain..... wasn't too bad I thought, as it was so hot and muggy on Thursday that it would dry out without too much of a mishap.... so....

Got to the other town and had dried off no problems.... went to see my folks who stay there for a coffee and then decided to head back through to my home town as I had to pick my daughter up from nursery at 5pm then, the wife from work....

Got caught in a thunderstorm, absolutely soaked to the bone, and 3 miles from home, at 16:45 - I get a f**king puncture!!!!!!   typical.....
so fortunately I have a spare in the bag, so I whipped off the rear wheel and began to change the inner..... 30 seconds later and begninning to pump up the tyre and reailised that my pump is broken!! useless piece of carp!!! grrrrr so at this point its now 5pm and I'm soaked to the bone, with a flat tyre and a bicycle pump that isn't pumping.... nothing left to lose so I flagged down the next car which went by (5 minutes later.... I'm on a singletrack country back road) to ask for a tyre compressor..... I have schrader type valves fortunately!!

Yes I think .... nice one the tyre is pumped up by this man doing his good deed for the day, and I think, brilliant, I'm gonna make it home... so off i speed to home to get the car, and in turn the wee one and the wife..... I get 1/2 a mile and realise the rear tyre is going soft again!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It turns out that the inner tube I had replaced the broken one with had a slight leak in it from the puncture repair I had done on it........ nightmare.... no spare inner tubes and a broken pump.......

Completely soaked, disheartened and totally late (17:20hrs at this point - and the nursery shuts at 17:30) I dismount and begin to push my steed home the last 2.5 - 3 miles home thoroughly peev'd off....

I eventually get home at about 1750hrs (I ran some bits with the bike getting dragged along) at this point the inner tube had come out from the tyre and wrapped itself round the cassette the tyre had come away from the rim and was the only thing turning as the inner tube had stopped the wheel from rotating.... so I dragged my bikes sorry ass home.... got in the car, still soaking wet and raced down to the nursery to find my wife and the wee one standing at the corner of the road.......

All she could do was laugh at me.......thanks love!

So I bought 3 new inner tubes yesterday - and am going to carry 2 as spares from now on!!! lol

Looking back - it was kinda funny, but not at the time!!!! :D
It's been a while...
