For things like seatposts etc where you want to avoid seizing and sticking - where it's carbon to aluminium would you use grease or would you use a carbon assembly compound - I'm guessing the assembly compound is just for carbon to carbon but I'm not sure ?

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

Grease is for things that move whereas assembly compound for things that you want to stay put
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

OK so it's not just for carbon on carbon then. In that case I'll get some.

Is it OK to apply lithium grease to a carbon steerer? And should a carbon steerer be greased?

Use the carbon specific grease as some normal grease can attack the carbon fibre.
