Locking bike during cake stop

I am just getting into road bikes after years of touring and tootling.

I don't carry a lock at the moment as there is nowhere convenient to keep it - do you guys lock your bikes during cake stops?? If so what do you use? Presumably some lightweight thing which is just a deterrent. Is there a lightweight lock that fits on a bottle cage mount? I realise this all may be a bit daft having spent a fortune shaving grams off the bike.

Thanks.

What i do, if im stopping at say a servo or a small shop is put it somewhere where you can keep an eye on it at almost all times and just put it in the 53x11 (or 12 or whatever is the biggest gear) so if some bogan tries to steal it, you should be able to catch him and give him the beating he deserves before he figures out how to change gears.
Do you have any Therapeutic Use Exemptions?
    No. Never have.
    Never? What about the cortisone?
Well, obviously there was the cortisone
  • Bloody hell, that was quick. Thanks for the link softlad.

I am not too concerned about stopping briefly at shops etc, I did my first club ride last Sunday and we stopped at a garden centre for tea/cake....as far as I could see no-one locked their bike and we were quite a walk from the car park! Is this typical?

I guess I'm looking for a very lightweight deterrent lock.

The cable tie idea looks great though.

When we lived in Bristol - yes with three locks.

Now we are in Cornwall - very very rarely.

you can buy a cheap £5 lock that you can put in one of your pockets. It won't stop a good thief but is a deterrent for most.
