Felt naked today, as I lost a mitt yesterday when the bike was moved when in work bike store

Doesn't feel right riding without mitts, don't feel safe  - FYI, am one of those sad individuals who ride in full PPE - helmet, hi-viz and mitts

on the up side, I found my kinky mesh/fishnet hi-viz vest, so arrived somewhat less sweaty this morning!!!

It's just a hill. Get over it.

I rode without my mitts yesterday as an experiment, and my hands did get a tiny bit sore and a little bit sweaty, so I'm firmly in the mitss camp even in summer. As an addendum, I was worried my new Gore Retro Tech II mitts would be too hot when riding in the heat of the weekend, but even over long distances they did a superb job, not overheating and keeping my hands very comfy. Can thoroughly recommend.

I can ride without mitts/gloves but if I found myself without a helmet when out for whatever reason then I'd be pushing the bike back or going to a bike shop to buy another one. I made a very strict no helmet - no ride rule for myself about 10 years ago and now if I even sit on a bike without wearing a helmet it feels extremely uncomfortable, and there's no way at all I can ride without wearing one.

So yeah, I know how you feel except my safety/protection obsession is with helmets, not gloves!

Does anyone else envisage Saferider as a character along the lines of the Green Cross Code man, only with a picture of a helmet on his chest and lycra shorts instead of superhero tights?

I've been taking my mitts off on really sunny days for 'special tan' avoidance the heels of my palms were a bit sore today. And I still haven't got a tan :(

I might go for a spray tan :)

Ha! Nah, I'm just a little too fat to feel comfortable in it!

    wierdo.

FWIW - OP- aye, know how you feel - would never ride without mitts or sunnies on safety grounds. Plus I have no intention of brushing my tyres off without mitts on!
Helmet - depends on the ride really

    Whose hands are those?

Does she have a very prominent adam's apple? Have you been dating her long?

    Fully supportive.

I wish I'd known about "her" last night - I had a pig of a job getting a seized seatpost out of my frame - it looks like she could have mangled it out of there no dramas.

  • That's a rubbish cycling tan. It doesn't even have any glovespots.

THIS is the holy grail of cycling tans.

The gloves seem to go a long way up her wrists. Anyway, I can't see the tan lines at the first knuckle. So while you gain with the "hole" tan, you lose with the finger tan and I must deem it a false grail.

Full-fingers in summer? Crazy! Some really sweaty handed golf play maybe? :?
