Is it really too hot to set out on a leisurly ride now

im bored, sitting looking at bike in front room and my new chamois cream has just arrived which i want to try (never used before, do i put it on skin or on pad on bib)

should i wait til later on when it may cool down or just go out now.

not sure whether the heat will make me not enjoy the ride or am i just making excuses cos i keep getting told its too hot to cycle??

Riding a bike in hot weather is a releif as you generate your own cooling breeze.
    It;s stopping that's a problem.

think he meant its difficult to stop cycling since you are loving the cool air while you are cycling.

While you're moving you generate a cooling breeze . As soon as you stop you are generating a personal heatwave.

I think you can cycle no matter how hot it is as long as you have plenty of fluids to drink. Therefore I would recommend going on a pub crawl

Exactly. Soon as you stop the lovely cool breeze goes and you're sweating like a pregant nun.

That's the excuse I used for my second cage. Finally used it this morning.

I put the cream directly on the skin, where it usually rubs a bit

    Suncream....pfft!

I am happy for the tan and will not be knocking good weather (considering the crap I have ridden in this winter!) I earned this summer and I am damnwell gonna use it....!

Drink more water and MTFU as DDD says!!

Am sweating like a *insert sweaty thing* most days though - sign of fitness, apparently!

ok so i went out in the end and got a lovely tan

only put bit of suncream on the bonce and to please girlfriend. (i am bald btw)

was a lovely ride and had plenty of fluids, funny seeing loads of people swealtering in their cars :D

one of the nicest aspects was the amount of cycle lanes. i went on a new ride over to walsall and it was just nice to be in a cycle lane for a change

cream worked a treat, however i put it both on skin and pad cos wasnt sure lol

Did you wear a helmet? Just wondering if you've got some tan lines through the vents, please check in the mirror and report back, could be interesting. :D

It may be fate that I decided to come and have a look on bikeradar for the first time in months. I needed to read that. Rather than sit at home tomorrow, I'm going for a ride, torrential rain or not.

    Thanks, AndyManc :D
