Cateye Velo 5 - Odo & Trip distance counters?

Sorry if this isn't the right area to post this in, as I've already bought the item, a Cateye Velo 5 computer. Very basic, but seems to have everything I need.
What I can't work out is how to reset the distance for the trip. This seems to be adding the distance (in miles) to the previous trips. So when I toggle between 'Odo' mode, which correctly shows the total mileage since I fitted it, to 'Dst' this still shows the same reading. I've looked at the manual and can't see a manual reset for this, and it doesn't seem to automatically reset for a new trip - even on a different date.
Anybody got any ideas? I imagine that it is probably the same procedure on more expensive Cateye computers?
