Been having a nose around and i want a really good pair for a change and atm im tied between oakley radar and uvex pro crow, any other good suggestions?

Did have madison darcs but never got on with the noce piece and they fogged up too easily.

  • I take it they're for while your riding?

I know they're right down the opposite end of the spectrum, but Bolle glasses (from ebay) are cheap, have loads of different filters and I think you can get anti fog ones.

Much cheaper to replace if you have an accident!

True but i have a pair of raybans so all the time im riding i'll be thinking how crap these glasses are when compared with them, i mean any glasses not just the bolle ones.

Im a tart anyway and love the iridium look lenses they offer.

  • haha fair enough :P

I canny wear many sunglasses.... 8 broken noses playing rugby has left me with a piece of bone over one side, so I can't wear ones without those little pad thingys :( and then they just fall off anyways

Well my rb's are fragile so riding is out of the question plus they wouldn't sit still anyway, great when out and about but not so for anything else.

I just want some opinions of people with the higher end stuff, i've heard oakleys quality has slipped in the past so im open to suggestions.

i got 5 pairs of oakleys ranging from cheap to high end £400 jobbies, i only ever rode in my cheap eyejackets untill i snapped the arm,.. i never rode in any of my expensive ones..

i have a pair of shimano ones they are excellent tri lenses i use these as my commute glasses.

i got a pair of polaris ones of crc should of been fifty odd quid got them cheap in a sale.
they are polarised lenses (like my top end oakleys) the clairity is amazing they come with 4 changable lenses and nose peices for different shape noses...
i rate these polaris glases,.. not to expensive if you kill them like i did with my eye jackets.

I just cannot justify megabuck sunglasses of any kind to be honest
Got me a pair of DHB sunglasses from Wiggle, they were about £25 and came in a case with 3 sets of lenses (blue/smoked/clear). They're not prone to fogging up
Had them for about 2½ years, dropped them more times than I can count and they're still in one piece

But then I did win them so I can't complain.

I just took delivery of some Rudy Project Rydons with the red photochromic lens. Excellent glasses. They make everything look brighter and sharper than normal lenses and going in and out of trees is no problem. It took me ages to decide which ones to get, but I'm glad I went for the Rudy's. Oakley frames are too cheap and plasticky for my liking. The cheapest place I could find is here:

I bought some Oakley Bottlecaps at the weekend, very light and very comfortable. Only £68 from the Oakley outlet at Gunwarf Quays 8)

I've just bought some Oalkey Livestrong Flak Jackets, very comfy, look good but a bit prone to condensation in my experience. Specialized adaptalite glasses are also worth checking out

I recently bought some Specialized Adaptalite ones ("mountain" formula), about £80. They are excellent, not too dark so great visibililty but also dark enough to be comfortable in bright sunshine. Other than knowing that you don't really notice them adjusting. Much less hassle than I imagine interchangable lenses to be.

Really well made too, apparently the polymer material was designed for military helicopter windows or something.

I have a pair of Radars. I am very pleased with them, comfy to wear - I hardly notice I am wearing them. These seem fairly resistance to steaming up, in fact they have only ever misted up when I have been stationary, and clear within a few seconds of riding. For comparison I have had Specialized, Bloc and Tifosi glasses in the past.

I did like the Specialized Chicanes, but managed to drop them while riding and never found them again  that did put me off high end glasses, but managed to get the Radars for a very cheap price. For budget glasses I think the Tifosi range are excellent.

Check out the new oakley jawbones.. expensive but come in a range of lenses and you get to pairs, one for low level light and one for high intensity.

They are easily interchangeable and due to them having a unique lens attachment system there is hardly any stress on the lens so optically they are excellent.

the colourway I want I have on back order but I have a standard pair coming into work in the next couple of weeks. Ill post up feedback when they arrive.

I got some halftime adaptalite glassses for xmas, been good for me. did 20 miles through very sunny and shady areas today and did not notice any distortion, too sunny or to dark episodes with them. I'd recomend them. What i would say is try the glasses you think you might buy on in a shop, it took me a good few frame styles before i found what i liked.

I have some Oakley Flak Jacket XLJ glasses which I can highly recommend. Very lightweight, secure and perfect for sports and everyday usage.
They also have interchangeable lenses with a huge selection.

They are also a decent price from £80, make sure you get the XLJ lenses for cycling.

    Money to burn !

Bolle safety glasses from fleabay, less than £5 a pair, choice of yellow, smoked or clear lenses, UV protection and a neck strap.

Top notch for the price, no worries about loss or scratches, just buy a few pairs, I've got three at the moment.

If you get the right glasses they shouldn't fog up during the summer, but when the temp is cooler they will fog when you stop cycling. This mostly happens in the winter when your body temp is higher after a good blast on the bike than the air around you. i think any glasses you get will fog up in those circumstances.

I have Shimano Novas which were pretty reasonably priced for okay optics. About £50 probably. not the most comfortable legs under your helmet straps though. Could maybe do with something slimmer if anybody has any suggestions.

Have Radars myself (after upgrading from the DHB £25 ones), the fog far less and are more comfy but I wouldn't say they're 5x better ;) I'm also pissed @ Oakley for not selling the photochromic Radar lens separately. Oh and Jawbones look fugly :p

    Specialized SingleTrack Adaptalite here too.

I can confirm that you cannot scratch the lenses! They were in my saddlebag, and must have been rubbing on my multi-tool for about 20 miles. The frame is scratched, but the lense isn't, the lens was directly on the multitool.

I look more stupid than this guy wearing them tho.. But I didn't buy them for looks, still look like a right plonker tho.

Adaptalite is very good. I did an event that started off overcast, no sun, by the time I finished, it was bright sunlight... I didn't even notice how much the weather had changed, until I took off the sunnies.

  • dazz, i have a set of the quad lense glasses from ebay, there actually quite good, (clear, yellow, cmoke and iridium) but i have to say, if its the slightest hint of sunshine the Oakleys come out! (gascans) have a pair of Dirtydog's too which have the lense in the side arms too to give a little more the wrap around glasses effect - periferal vision thingy, there not bad but i just love my Oakleys too much lol!
Savage surf down portreath had dirtydogs in the display unit wiht the clothing, 35 for the plastic frames and 55 fot the metal iirc??

Thanks for the advice, after some long thinking i've decided to plump for the oakley radars, im tired of cheap ones performing inferior to others i wear anyway.

These are the badboys i've ordered. ;)

Good choice.. you may want to look into picking up a seperate lens maybe high intensity yellow or persimmon as i've found the + red iridium can be quiet dark.
