Hi,

I am interested in purchasing the Giant SCR 2 2008, the company active sport is selling for £585 and national cycles £586.72.

Is it worth waiting for a few months to see if the price reduces further even though they are still selling at £879.99.

Thanks

Hiren

Definitely wouldn't wait if this is the bike you want, try making them an offer. Edit: seems like the MSRP was £545 according to the posters below, and the advice in the sticky thread at the top of this forum. I still wouldn't wait months and miss summer riding. Negotiate hard, if that's no use look at the Defy 3 instead?

I paid £440 for this same bike in April last year, that is crazy money.

Mine was £545 last year, and that was Giant's RRP. It's ridiculous that it should cost more this year. But then again, this year's equivalent retails for well over £600.

Agreed £545 was the 2008 RRP. The 2009 model, the Giant Defy2 is over £700 and for the extra you are getting slightly better wheels and BB. Once the 2008 models are gone they're gone unless you can snap one up second hand. Personally I'd go for the 2008 model, that'll give you about £175 or more for extras etc.

For what it's worth I ride a 2008 SCR2 and love it. At the time it had better spec compared to similar bikes in that price point. I upgraded the very average Kenda tyres to Conti 4000s and the difference was amazing.

They don't make any more SCRs so if it's what you want buy it. For that money it's a steal.

I've got the SCR1 and never looked back after paying £700 for it. Do it do it do it! :P

I bought my SCR2 last summer and love it. Got it for about 450-ish at the time, and it had a few component better than the listed spec (carbon seatpost, IOU 333 rims etc) which was a nice surprise. I love it. Still on the Kenda tyres, but will probably change them soon.
