Firstly, congrats on shedding so much weight.
Secondly, I have no idea. Get in touch with the manufacturer would be your best bet to confirm it.0 -
Hey mate,
Just read your blog, very well done. Hope your Trek woes get sorted!!!
Buying a bike just for one event is quite excessive dont you think? Couldn't the shop were they've sold you the Trek give you one whilst your one is repaired. It is definetely not your fault - you might have to pay a small deposit but it is deffo worth asking IMHO
By the way when you get your Trek back get your self either some new Handbuilt wheels from Paul Hewitt or the Quest Comos. They are boomproof.
Good luck!x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

If you really want a road bike, seeing as your Trek is MTB really and that is no good for anything hehehe, you should be able to get yourself a Giant Defy 4 for £450 and may be some Quest Comos for another £60 quid, I know it is a bit over your budget but what is £60 quid when you are doing something that is changing your life?!!?x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

Again. Let me congratulate you - the transformation is amazing.
You definitely need to get a road bike - first of all because the ride will be so much fun and much faster but also because you will love it so much, you'll double your training and the weight will drop off even faster.
But get something decent that you can upgrade - not too sure about the Vitus but if you buy a road bike, you'll get addicted and want more kit. So get something that will be worth upgrading otherwise you'll have to buy another bike and it'll be a fortune. Alternatively don't be scared of second-hand, particularly on here. Most are more pre-loved than second-hand and good for miles and miles yet. You'd get a pretty good bike for your budget in the classifieds section.
Once again well done - and good luck for the ride. Post again when you've finished and tell us how you got on.0 -

Hi mate, Thanks for that, The Trek will get sorted but I have lost all faith in the bike shop to be honest
I am looking at another bike not just for the event but because my current second is a 2000 year old (well maybe 20 years old) Townsend Terminator MTB and over the winter I put a couple of hundred miles in on it and REALLY dont want to do that again as its too small and I have no idea how its still alive so getting a second bike is the best option really, I feel naked without a bike to use and me naked ISNT a good thing lolOn a Mission to lose 20 stone..Get My Life Back

mate, really don't get a hybrid. They are the worst of both worlds. Not the best one at tackling the roads or offroads. Also you are going to be doing Manchester to Blackpool!
I think you should get the Giant Defy 4. Great frame, it will take your 22 stone and it is easily upgradable. The componentry it gets is really basic but with the advantage that is you can upgrade it later (the Defy 1 is nearly 1k). If you are worried about wheels get the Quest Como or even better some handbuilts from Hewitt or similar.

The problem with that Giant is the RRP is £475 and im pushing it big time at £450
EDIT: So even if I got one at £450 from somewhere I would be out of money to buy wheelsOn a Mission to lose 20 stone..Get My Life Back

Wow, just had a quick look over your blog and what you've achieved is incredible!! Should be a huge inspiration to others trying to loose weight! All the best with your continued weight loss and hope you're able to find a bike!! (sorry I can't be of any help with regard to the Vitus Alios).

Have a look, I have seen at least 4 places selling them for £450. You don't need the wheels, the ones that it comes with should be good to start with.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x
