... I just phoned Ribble (without much hope in my heart. it has to be said)

The phone rang once and a helpful person answered it.

Is that a record? Do I win ten pounds?
It doesn't get any easier, but I don't appear to be getting any faster.

last time I spoke to Ribble, they hung-up on me in mid-conversation. Mind you, that was in 1994 and I haven't dealt with them since.. ;)

The only time ive ever had to phone them (Sent me the wrong splined wheel) they picked up the phone first time and the problem was sorted really quickly. So..if there is a tenner to be one...surely its mine (twas over a year ago now)

I used to say things like that about any business that even sort of pissed me off, but
eventually realized that this is not a perfect world and sh*t happens. Lighten up a bit
and give them another shot. Being angry only hurts you and I'm betting that sooner or later
you'll see something in their catalog that you want, at a price you can't resist.

When I was buying my bike off them I never succeeded in countless attempts to get them on the phone. They did however answer my email withing a few days and the bike is lovely, so I'm not complaining.

Seriously - it seems most on here want to bash Ribble 24/7. And am not sure why. Yes the service isn't fantastic, but you pay a low price for your goods for a reason. & it ain't to have someone earning 15 or 20 grand a year to take phone calls all day. If you want top quality service go and get ripped off by your local car garage, hotel or dodgy LBS?

Having emailed Ribble several times whilst waitig for my sportive, I have to be fair and say they did email back within 48 hrs on every occasion even when I was moaning. Am sure PBK, CRC, Parkers, Wiggle, Evans etc all have there moments. Varying prices, missed deliveries, and low stock levels etc. We have to face facts in life. If your not prepared to meet face to face to discuss your requirements then our just a number on the phone or on the net!

I would say PBK have been the best all round as far as I'm concerned though!

I've never had any problems with them - ever. Not bad on the phone either.

Me neither. In fact I chose a Ribble bike specifically because they were informative and helpful to me in the shop fitting me for the bike on their jig and advising me on gear ratios etc. Never dealt with them online or phone though

In case you haven't noticed, there is more than one place to buy cycle goods from. I would much rather spend my money with parker. Before hand, I was a great ribble customer until they became arsey about a pair of Assos shorts I sent back. Funny, I got in contct with the Assos UK importer who exchanged them straight away, just a shame Ribble didn't offer that standard of service!

nicensleazy - If the price is right, go on give them another chance. It seems a bit harsh to 'never' want to use them again after you said you were a 'great ribble customer.' Show a bit of forgiveness! Do you not have a 'soul' man? You never made a single mistake? If they get arsey again over something else, fair enough at least you can say I gave them a second chance?

Do any of you have problems with their Bike Builder web application? It appears to work only in Internet Explorer, and not on Firefox, Konqueror, Epiphany etc.
As far as their bikes go, the guys at work who ride them are all very happy with them (hence my interest in getting the web page working :) ). I emailed them this morning pointing out the problem - it'll be interesting to see if they respond.

Yeah. Know what you mean, as I run through firefox. I emailed them. They did get back to me and said it was a program clash with firefox and that theres no way round it. So I logged on and orderd via explorer. The rest of the site works fine, just not the BBTool.

Well if you're out on the bash tonight I'll give it to you then... but only if you beat me in the sprint

Oh, and never had any problem with Ribble mail order. I have just never, ever, ever managed to get a reply from any email or ever got anyone to answer the phone before. Ever.
It doesn't get any easier, but I don't appear to be getting any faster.

Nearly contacted them about a bike, but in the end decided to buy an Orbea, so went to Allterrain instead.

    First class service!!

re the bike builder. This from November last year:
    unfortunately the web site providers
that supplied and maintain our new site have not honoured their
contract, it has cost us a substantial amount of wasted time and money
to realise the site is not as we expected and require. I assure you that
all measures are being taken to ensure the site will be compatible
across the board by new year..

I gather that it's still not useable without IE. So all measures = nothing?

My experience with their web sales was very unpleasant, they really didn't care about losing a customer, and were sarcastic and unhelpful. At the time I was shopping for a new race bike, with a £2500 budget. I spent it with someone else who gave a d***..

Maybe , for a laugh, we should take turns to call them with ridiculous questions...see what the response is....

I'll go first tomorrow, and in the great tradition of Vic n' Bob, ask if 'the Ali Baba wicker baskets are still for sale?'.......

Tune in tomorrow evening for the answer....to give it extra edge, first forum member to make them swear down the line, wins a Zipvit energy bar/gel of their choice......

Not wishing to rain on anyone's parade, but what on Earth do you expect to achieve? A demonstration of what a c*ck you are?

Anyway, the chances of them picking up the phone are minimal.
