A while back I made a post about the lengendary 17% hill in Norbury (London), where I used to live.

Bassjunkie went along and blitzed the hill in his beloved 42ring (we should throw stones at him he has Mountain bike ratios on a road bike).

Since then I've managed Wimbledon Hill - heading towards Wimbledon Village. I've tackled Denmark hill and the Richmond Park hills.

Despite all that I still avoided the 17% hill.

This was the case until last Saturday on the way to pick up my comics. I approached, attacked, tackled and overcame my demon!

I climbed the hill. Yay!

Now you've done it! Next you'll be heading out in to the sticks to find the 20% then 25% and before you know it you'll be booking a weekend away to cycle up Hardknott pass. It's a slippery slope!

OI! Cheeky bugger ;-) Well done tho and to be fair if you can make it up Denmark and Wimbledon Hill then that one shouldn't be a problem!

RM - I'm tempted by Nightigale Lane, I remember you mentioning it when we where at RP and I'd be interested to see how it compares to some of the short, sharp ones I have near me!

Nightigale isn't bad i use it as a warm up as you where before having a roll around RP, but as jash says whitedown and winterfold are much more fun, i'd of thought you'd fly up them.

    Um.

How steep is that hill then? In layman's terms?

    Sorry!

I don't know DDD's hill i can't rember the name etc, but if memory serves fairly steep though not near vertical?

to be honest measureing hills by rise/hill/steep/very steep/don't be silly! is probaably better grading. measuring peak grades of hills is fairly hit and miss by gps or googlemap based websites.
