Question

While out riding today some 14 year old lads described my bike as "sick."
Does that mean I should be worried and take it to my LBS for a check over as it may be unwell.
Or should I be "stoked" whatever that may involve.
Any translation would be gratefully received.

You should be stoked 8) . Sick is the same as "rad", "crucial", "dope" and all those things.

    Innit.

What's your bike, if it's sick I want to see it.
A good looking bike is always a pleasure for the eyes. :D

    Pictures please.

Depends how they said it. If they said it was sick, and looked like they were a little bit sick in their own mouths, and started laughing, probably means they didn't like it.

If they said it was sick, and proceeded to look at your bikes fork / frame / shock / wheelset / brakes etc, then it's probably they liked it.

    But you having to ask...

    Obviously you aren't a 'straight-up G'...

    Tut tut...

    Krunk / Krunkin'

finlayson99 - you have alot to learn, young one!

Straight-up G = Straight-up gangster / gangsta'. Dude is appropriate, but just 'G' is favourable

Really?! - Krunk / Krunkin is apparently good (aswell...???).

Tonk = Bad. ''That ride was proper tonk!'', or ''The weather is tonk'', etc.

Someone used the term "Dog W@nk" about a club once in Les Arcs but that didn't mean good. Just thought it was one of the best expressive terms I'd heard in a while.

An Apollo bike is Dog W@nk!

Ahhh, so now we are getting somewhere.
    Gangsta sounds good to me.
Next time I feel the need to insert "Dude" into a sentence, I shall use "G" instead. And I shall never use the description "tonk" in polite company.
You Sir, are an excellent chap, sorry an excellent "G"

    Finlayson99 - :lol::lol::lol:

Refer to you boss as 'G', or homie.

As delcol suggested too, holmes (pronounced 'homes') and dawg are other suitable alternatives.

NO, I'm not a gangster, or wannabe gangster, just that it makes folks laugh when you walk into a room and say ''What up gaaaaaaannngggserssssss'' ('gangsters' said in a really high-pitch, but slow voice), or when you call people 'G' and not they're name. Preferably DON'T use 'dawg' on a woman. Unless you want to die / get castrated....

Good tips there friend. Just not too sure about calling the boss "G" or "homie"
    Might pass on that one.
Having heard "Dawg" used extensively on Pimp My Ride it all makes perfect sense.

You never know, he may be a secret gangster, and if you use these words, he will understand you are a secret ganster, and promote you!! In real life however, you can always just say it quietly, and when he asks what you just said, just say you said his name! Lol.

Stupid pimp my ride... The put a WATERFALL in someones car! LCD screens in the WHEELS. A goldfish tank where the rear window normally is, complete with LIVE goldfish...

I'm sure DMX is on crack...

Wow, the "information superhighway" (it is still called this isn't it?) really is something isn't it.

This will be straight onto my favourites list.
Thanks "Dawg" (please see ref above)

Well, if "wicked" means good then I can only assume it means "Bro, your dope speed is well fast, young G Dawg. Innit, Bo, Brrrrrrrrrrap, brrrrrrap!"

I am afraid my friend that in this case there may not be an alternative translation
I would just assume that they were addressing someone else who was riding near to you but was obviously of a much greater age.
