Hhmm, Im going to have to think about this one for a bit.
Only boys who taped lolly sticks to their seatstays so that they sounded like proper motorbikes should be allowed to post 8)0 -

did a really say that !!!0 -
Got to be the FAB.
Not only is it fab (hah!) , but it has unlimited potential for snooty debating on how to eat it."I hold it true, what'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost;
Than never to have loved at all."
Alfred Tennyson0 -
Once you reach your 30's, Fabs lose their appeal. Zooms, for sure were the best 8)0

Had a retro lolly fix on Saturday - a Feast. It was nowhere good as I remembered (sighs)"Bed is for sleepy people.
Let's get a kebab and go to a disco."

What sort was it that you could eat the stick?
(I mean it was edible, thanks! No pointing out you could eat the wooden stick if you had to. :P )0 -
at the moment I can't get enough of Asda's own make orange ice lollies, 8 for a quid, eating one at the minute. Always put them in the microwave for 6 seconds first. we get two boxes a week and there's always a scrap over them. Have been known to hide a couple at the back of the freezer
orange maids were nice, lager and lime and cider lollies as well0 -
Strawberry Split.
Simple, classy, elegant.
Visually, the red of the ice lolly and pale yellow of the ice-cream complemented each other perfectly. A real design classic.
As you crunched through the outer layer, the ice would refresh your mouth. Your taste buds, stimulated and excited, would then be treated to the splendid luxury of the vanilla, and your soul would feel caressed by the gods.
Oh, if an ice-cream van came round the corner right now....0 -

OH MAN, I'd forgotten about them. They were the best. Always liked anything strawberry flavoured.
Why can't you find tubs of plain strawberry ice-cream anymore, like you used to have watching the wrestling on World of Sport with your dad, lol.0 -

I was slightly disappointed to read (while searching for Zoom pics) that it was aimed at 5-13 year old girls :?
I just had one this evening at it was a truly beautiful moment.
That said, I do feel short-changed by the plain bottom section - aesthetically pleasing, yes but somehow lacking in the je ne sais quoi of the first two sections...0 -

Rock and Roll!
We once (1977) sent my Aunty Vera into a corner shop to get:
Three Lolly Gobble Choc Bombs and a Lord Toffingham
What you have to understand is that my Aunty Vera was, until that moment, a deeply scary woman of whom we were profoundly terrified and this was us taking the p1ss big time.
However, to her great credit, she fulfilled the order with aplomb and it broke the ice (lolly) good and proper. We were all best mates for ever after.0 -

Often enjoyed the aforementioned Cider Barrel, was sometimes partial to a Strawberry Split, never ever felt like having a Fab though.
My favourite was this:
Although sometimes, to be different, I would go for these wafer-in-shape-of-an-oyster-impossible-to-eat efforts:
