And I know I don't need a new bike, but shouldn't I indulge myself before I have kids and therefore no money to spare?

Believe me, your time will be scarcer than your money after kids...

    FACT.

I voted for the Alps but a new bike is always a good idea IMO. As long as you have room.

+2. If you think you're getting out on regular Sunday morning rides - let alone getting to the Alps and doing all those famous cols - when you have kids, think again. Time is more precious than a bike. (And I don't mean TIME. Ha ha. Boom boom. Thank you, thank you very much. :P )

Go to the Alps while you have time. Seriously.

"What happens when the hammer goes down, kids?"
    "It stays down, Daddy."
    "Exactly."

No kids on the way yet folks! But hopefully in the next 3/4 years so I have a bit of time to indulge in Alps/Bikes etc.

Gotta make the most of things eh.

How sodding frustrating is it being trapped indoors in this weather, knowing the Surrey Hills are prob nice and quiet. I'd love nothing more than to be hammering up Box Hill atm thinking about having a cold drink and a nice sarnie at the top!

    Hi Jash,

I voted for new bike as this is always great. But i'm just about 1/2 the way to saving up for a Pearson so please tell me you haven't got some lush summer SS uber steed to trump this. What Summer SSer do you have in mind...just dipping in and out of the thread so you may have said already.

    Cheers

So what's the frame call - is it that nasty piece of Italian Pista Porn FILTHY!

    Is it drilled for brakes?

Will they give us a discount for buying two?
Fixed gear for wet weather / hairy roadie for posing in the sun.

    What would Thora Hurd do?

I can't go done the whole Steel Pista thing cos it's too hard to source a decent frame in the UK and would be over budget anyway, wanted something like this:

    scratch.jpg

    or this:

    pista500.jpg

But may end up with a Black Decade Convert2

It's a road bike - I think they dissolved in the rain or evaporated in the sun.
