New full suss bike for experienced rider
Hey all,
I am totally loving these forums. After having a bit of a manic cycle tonight trying to keep up with boys, I have decided to get myself a full suss bike to increase my chances. Was going to get one anyway, so tonight have clinched it for me!!!
I do love my hardtail Scott Contessa so it will still be put to good use but really liking the idea now of a full suss !
Any ideas on what to get. I know everyone always says specialised but for some reason they don't seem to take my fancy. Have tried one once and its just now my type of bike.
All suggestions welcome
Looking forward to geting responses!

Sounds like it would be worth testing a few full sussers out to see what suits - say between 120 and 150mm of travel. Something like this springs to mind:

It will feel very differnet to the hardtail! Don't get to fixated on ladies designs - we all vary, men's may suit just as well (though with a change of saddle)0 -
And say:

That is a bit lighter, for more general trails rather than hooning off bigger stuff. Might be a good compromise.0 -

Hello
Keep an eye out on Ebay - I got my used once (literally!) full suss off there for about 20% off the price new...
It sounds like I do the same sort of riding as you - mostly red routes with the occassional black and nice technical bits. I ride a santa cruz superlight which I adore.
Also I agree with the comment about trying all sorts. I have a ladies road bike but my superlight is a blokes small frame which suits me perfectly.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the number of moments that take your breath away....
Riding a gorgeous ano orange Turner Burner!

if you're interested in a women's specific frame, then you can do a lot lot worse than getting one of Marin's quad link beauties.
They're the dog's danglies. Except they're not, cause thery're for women, and female dogs don't have danglies - oh whatever, here's the link
Marin mount vision 5.6
The RRP is a reasonable £1450, but most dealers offer slightly lower prices.
Marin's "women's fit geometry" bikes have different length top and seat tubes, to better suit a woman's proportions, and also have the shock spring rates set to a more typical female rider weight.
I've also noticed they tend to fit lighter components as they don't have to support a gurning neanderthal thrash-head!0
