  • I found this recently but can't tell you if it's any good or not as I can't seem to find any reviews. Great price tho.

I've used a couple of setups. Compact on a manfrotto clamp attached to stem, ATC3000 and now a HQ-2 camera with HQR-2 DVR.

It all depends on what you want to do and budget. A dirt cheap compact in a homemade caddy might do if you're up to a bit of DIY. The more expensive units dont always offer playback, same for the all-in-one units.

Most people go for the atc3000 tbh. Its cheap, reasonably tough and water resistant.

Have a butchers at the Helmet Cam thread, which should give you some pointers. And bear in mind that there might be a tendency for people to recommend the product they've purchased themselves.

I have a question which might help the OP out.

I've heard too many negative reviews about the ATC3000 (not terrible, just not great).
So, if I wanted to go for something like this...

What DV recorder would be suitable? Is it anything with a PAL input?

    thanks,

Pretty much all the DVRs come with a cable to connect to these cameras. The MiniDVR (on dogcam too iirc) would be all thats needed - comes as part of a "spy" kit on action cameras though you can buy them on their own.
