  • I think the FR are open at the back, DH cover move of your calf.... Not 100% though.

Didn't like the FR. Toooo bulky, not very maneuverable and sweaty as hell.

The DH version also have thicker padding, but essentially Benj is right.

However, I completely disagree with him on the comfort thing. I can wear mine all day even in the hottest weather and completely forget that they're there. Yes they do get sweaty but not majorly so (and I suffer big time with hyperperspiration), but personally I'd rather be a bit sweaty than taking a trip to A&E.

The do come up on the small side though. Both my elbow/forearm and knee/shin sets are the Large size - they're best described as a snug fit and I'm not the biggest bloke in the world. I think that this might be where Benj finds them a let down because I believe that he's quite a lump...

Protection wise they're amongst the best - unlike a lot of knee/shin combos, they cover the whole shin right down to the ankle and actually sit on top of your foot (but you can't feel it because they're well padded). The won't rotate and they won't work loose. If the scuffs and scrapes on mine are anythign to go by they've saved me a few pints of blood too.

10/10 as far as I'm concerned.

  • I went for the 09 FR as the DH ones were a bit too restrictive for me. The foam is thicker, the pads encase the back of the leg and the kneecup is slightly different iirc. I wear them for DH, they're marvellous.
