My Bike, Bro Ked, what's the quickest way of getting another

Hairline crack across the top tube in front of the the seat post.

Warranty repair apparently, but it could take a month to get the frame swapped out.

So, do I tube it for a month in the hot summer (costing me 30 squid a week + extras) or do I spend £120 or so on a second hander that I can sell on when I get my bike back with a new frame, (will it still be my bike?!).

The choice is pretty clear to me.

Any advice on where to get a good (large, I'm 6'4") second hand flat/drop bar road bike sharpish ('cept brick lane).

Well, there's the missus in the shed, far too small though.

Me dad's got one hanging up in his garage but he's farther away than you are, and it involves a sea crossing.

Get CIB to pick it up and cycle it down to you.

That nutter would enjoy the challenge!

    Yours or me dad's?

To bring me dad's up CIB would have to keep quite some speed up to cross the water, I think it's doable though, only a couple of miles.

[edit, and there's some quite wicked hills leading down the the sea, perfect for getting up to "skimming" speed]

Here's a blog with a few starting places for grabbing a second-hand bike in London. It suggests using LCC's handy listof second-hand bike shops to phone ahead and see if anywhere has anything worthwhile in stock.

You keep the missus in the shed?
Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos

Ta! Camden cycles looks good. I'd rather pay a premium for something I know's going to work for a month or so than hunt around trying to find something that works that might not.

Ooh I know of someone - colleague's boyfriend who's just bought a new and snazzy bike and wants rid of his old commuter. He's vv.tall too... PM me and I'll email colleague for the details.

Go to your local bike shop, hand over a wad of cash and when you have given them sufficient moniey they will hand you a new bike.

I didn't get a new bike, I went to Lunar Cycles (well worth a visit to see the workshop alone and all the bikes laid out).

Got this for £120, possibly a bit over the top (is it? am I being unfair?) but at least I know it's been rebuilt from scratch and is safe:

Should do me for a month or so.
