I bought some BTwin ones from decathlon to start me off with which are comfy and only about £14 I think. Though I'm sure there are much better ones for a higher price.

I got some cheap bib shorts from cycle-clothing.co.uk via their ebay shop at £15 and also have a pair of Giordana Tenax Carbon A413. The Giordana's are so much more comfortable. It's worth paying the extra if you can.

Id second gore contest i think they are. The ones i have atm, reasonably priced, very good performance, comfy and relatively understated.
