Waterbottle malfunction!

Stupid SIS bottle. Until now I've loved them, they are cheap, easy to drink from and just worked pretty well so much so that the SIS bottle had become my preferred option.
So last night, a few laps into the race at Palace, my mouth was getting very dry and I desperately needed a squirt.
Pull open the thingie (with teeth), squeeze ... nothing, and the bottle won't squeeze. Suck, just air. Try again next lap.

You get the picture. So now I am very much in need of a drink and so pull to the edge of the group, fiddle a bit more and FINALLY get the much needed sticky, red liquid inside. It works fine after that.
I've never had any problems before with a water bottle (anyone else had this?), and still can't work out what caused it. It certainly didn't help my cause last night.
Afterwards another dude suggested trying one of those new fangled Camelbak bottles, looks interesting - but overkill for something that really should be so simple.

Pop it in the dishwasher, perhaps? Sticky badness build-up seems a possibility. I've had that happen before.0

I reckon Camelbak, aided by that "dude" put a hex on your water bottle to encourage you to buy their product instead. Resist!!!0

Palace?
Is that Crystal Palace? Do they have evening races there? Can you post any more details please?
I live local and would be interested in spectating (maybe even entering, if they're open events).
Thanks0 -
Those Camelbak's are great.0

Yep, Camelbak Podium, double the price of regular bottles but they will probably last twice as long. Worth every penny.0

I love my ones. I am afraid to put non-water liquids in though, in case it gums up the valve or makes it go foosty.
Are SIS bottles just the normal sort of bike bottle?0 -
I have the opposite problem: my SIS bottles leak from everywhere, so don't use them except for the commute on odd occasions.FCN 2-4.

But before my dish washing skills, and general hygiene in the Roasted household, are brought into question, the offending bottle was a new 'un.cjcp wrote:I have the opposite problem: my SIS bottles leak from everywhere, so don't use them except for the commute on odd occasions.David

Yup, it's not annoying in the slightest, is it?
