Rear Bottle Racks

Hello Everyone,
Does anyone have experience with bottle cages that are mounted on the seat post or saddle, such as the Profile Design RM System 1? I used one of these for the 1st time at the weekend as I wanted to carry 3 bottles (2xwater, 1xenergy drink) and I was a little disapointed. When descending I went over some very small bumps and it launched one of the bottles like a rocket! This happened twice!
I was using 750ml bottles, but I'm thinking that the 500cc bottles may be more suitable.
I've since taken the RM System 1 off and put Bontrager's Race Lite Rear Cage Holder, but I've yet to test it. The cages seem to have a lip that makes removing the bottle much less easy than on the Profile cage.
I'm not bothered about accessing the bottles when on the move, it's simply to save me needing to fill up en route. When I stop, I can switch the bottles then.
Cheers,

Can't help with specifics regarding the cages but you could try attaching a (thickish) rubber band to the cage and then looping it over the top of the bottle. Not the most elegent of solutions but it will work.
I'd use a larks foot hitch to attach to the cage.0 -
Hi there,
Thanks for the reply. I think that's what the Profile Design cages are missing, something that sits on top of the bottle and clamps down to the cage. They do supply what you're talking about with their aero drinks bottles, so I could always try that.
The Bontrager Race Lite rack isn't as nice looking as the Profile Design rack and you can't remove the cages easily. The Profile Design cage does let you change the cages to what you want, so it would be a case of trial and error to see what works.

Is it this one?

They come suplied with a couple of rubber bands that sit in the groove. These soon break and the bottle becomes less secure. I have replaced with a red rubber postie band. Worked ok. However replacing for the cages for the better would be a good solution.Rich0 -

Yep, that's it. I've got a couple of the cages that don't have the bands, so I'll give the red "postie" bands a go.
