New Headset - Worth going for a Chris King?

Hi
The bike (Sabbath September) is in for it's first service.
The LBS tell me the Cane-Creek HS is shot and needs replacing.
They are recommending a Chris King for about £120, or Arcos, which I have not heard of before.
So do you think it’s worth going for the expensive CK?
I am tempted by the reviews - low-maintenance and high build-quality.
Any other recommendations for a quality HS but cheaper.?
Thanks

apologies....
wrong type of bike....
in MTB world....yes the CK ones are bling...but cost a lot....
again for MTB...something like the FSA PIG DH perfroms and lasts just as well as the CK, but is only £35....
I m sure you will find similar views in the road world....
but if its bling you are after and that is worth the premium to you......then go for it.
Whenever I see an adult on a bicycle, I believe in the future of the human race.

Not just the bling with CK the 10 year warranty isn't to bad either.0

Headset shot in under a year?
Both my bikes have got Cane Creek headsets, 4 and 3 years respectively and they are still going strong.0 -

Yep...that's what they are saying...it suprised me too0 -
Can't believe a CC HS headset has gone already. Very strange that.0

It's a road bike, it really doesn't need a flash headset. Fit one if you want to burn some money on a tasty tarty accessory, but it really is overkill.0

I would ask them to show you how the headset is worn - mine generally last many years and I don't have anything special.0

CK are good and you can pick them up quite a bit cheaper than 120Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

I agree that does seem like a short time to wear out a headset. Normally they can be serviced and will last for years. Perhaps it wasn't properly fitted or adjusted at some point and got damaged that way.
I would check out the deals on FSA headsets at On One. They are decent quality and look pretty good. I have an Orbit MX.0 -
Thanks a lot for the advice guys.
CK seems a bit OTT for my needs.
I'm looking at the FSA pages on Chain Reaction, lots to choose from.
The Orbit MX look good and solid for 37 quid - may go for that - thanks denmancentral0
