Hi all,

I'm looking at getting into road biking to take part in triathalons. I'm looking at using the bike to work scheme to purchase a road bike - but not sure where to start. My budget would approx be £500 - is that enough to purchase a decent road bike?

Could anyone make some recommendations on makes / models that would be a good purchase?

That'll be enough to get a decent entry level road bike.

There is little point recommending one as there are sooooooo many threads on exactly that subject.

There were quite a few entry level bikes at £500, but a lot of the prices have gone up, so the same bike is now £550-600.

Have a look at what you can get, for your money and pick out the ones you really like. Then have a look at the reviews and threads on here.

dont forget to check last years models reduced a that price - same thing different paintjob - better spec for money

i do tris - worth keeping a few quid of your budget to fit some clipon aerobars - but can always be added later if you get into it!!

have fun - i started tris this year and am luvvin it (well the bit between the swim and run anyway  )
