I am 5'8" - is a small bike frame (16") too small for me? Thanks

    might be might not be.

for a jump or DH bike it sounds big.

i am about the same height as you with 32inch inside leg and my bikes are 17inch and M(which i think is 17.5inch) but you really need to go and have a sit on them to see what suits you best.

Looking at a Ragley steel hardtail for trail riding but not sure if I should get 16" or 18"

and difficult to try out a frame before buying!

You'll only know for sure after sitting on one, I prefer smaller frames though as they're more chuckable if that makes any sense. Just an opinion though :D

Borderline IMO. Mrs.blitz is 5'9" and a 15.5/16" bike is way too small for trail riding. A 17.5" frame is comfortable but they're not all the same.
  • at 5'8" you need a 16in Ragley.

Ed, one of our test riders is a touch smaller than you, and rides a 16in. I'm 6'1" and at the top of end of the 18in frame.

    16in will be perfect.

16" will probably be enough, but similarly to you at 5' 9" I am inbetween sizes small and medium, ie 16 - 18 and all frames vary, so it's best to try some. If you do fall inbetween I would always go for the smaller size which will give you a more "chuckable" bike. The overall frame dimensions from one 16" to another will vary.
