New bike..how to check it has been set up properly?

This may seem like a silly question, but i'll ask it anyway 
I'm going to pick up my new bike from (Gt Aggresor XC 3) from Halfords. Reading around the forum, Halfords seem to have a bad rep regarding bike set ups. Is there anything I should specifically look for?
I suppose i'll find out soon enough if bits start falling off!

allen key on the headset, stem/bars and brakes. check your QR skewers and that should be about it.
Remember your headset bolt doesn't need to be over tight, its only to preload bearings.0 -
Buy a good maintenance book too and have a read.0
