M-Lock and SL Ratchets

I need to get a new ratchet for my Specialized shoes and according to mcconveycycles you can replace your older M-Lock ratchets with the newer SL.
Is this the case and if so can you then get the SL strap to replace the M-Lock strap?
If so it would be great because the M-Locks are really difficult to release!
