Marmotte limited to 7,000 places - no signing on the line

http://www.sportcommunication.info/GT/m ... imite2.htm

I had planned to sign up on the line for the Marmotte this year, but I've just seen that the event has been limited to 7,000 places this year and there will be no signing on the line.

If you are planning to ride and haven't signed up, get yourself entered on the www.sportcommunication.com website. There are only a few places left.

Cheers, Russell

Here's the details from their website.

As Road automobile racing recently, cycling events are now restricted in France.

As an example, in May, La Ventoux Beaumes de Venise race was limited to1000 participants.

Actually, French administrative department of Savoie (Préfecture and Gendarmerie) lay on some restrictions for La Marmotte at 7 000 cyclists maximum. They don’t want to take care of this major mass event in opposition to some professional and media coverage sports (such as football, Tour de France, and so on).

We are obliged to stop registrations as soon we reach this threshold.

As the registration limitation get closer, only 178 bib numbers available, last numbers will be assigned along (post and Internet arrival date).
There won’t be any price increasing concerning last minute registration (less than 15 days).
First of all, we will give priority to cyclists who are doing Trophée de l’Oisans (Marmotte, Vaujany, Prix des Rousses and Grimpée de l’Alpe) or other Grand Trophée races.

It seems that we won’t take any last minute inscription for La Marmotte on Wednesday (at Saint Martin le Vinoux, Pinsello’s store), on Thursday, on Friday (Alpe d’Huez) and before the start Saturday morning at Bourg D’oisans.

This limitation doesn’t affect:

• La Mi-Marmotte registration which start on Saturday at Valloire (10h)
• La Rando des Marmottes (2 days randonnée) which start on Friday morning at Bourg D’Oisans.

Registrations for both of these last courses will take place as usually.

The organisation committee, Oisans collectivities and cities (Alpe d’Huez and Bourg d’Oisans,…) are hardly protesting again such discriminative restricitions. We will sign and present petition to French authorities.

We are thanking in you advance for your understanding.
