cleatless touring shoes

I am looking for old fashion cleatless touring shoes; the kind with a thin but stiff sole. The last pair I have are Specialized from about 15 years ago. I have tried using shoes meant for clipless type cleats without the cleat. The problem is that in order to fit the cleat into the sole the sole has to be so thick. You wind up having to ride a higher seat height to compensate. Also the old thin sole shoes slip in and out of toe clips easier - I know, who uses toe clips? Thanks

I used the Specialized Sonoma with toe clips for a long while, with no problem. Or if you are feeling rich and flamboyant there are theseNeil
