Just watching it now.

Still amazes me what the Astronauts had to go through, no matter how many times I hear about it!

Just imagine doing what no-one had ever done before. A step into the total un-known.

Amazing that the first moon landing was only 40 years ago.

Really good program!

They never landed on the moon.

    ;)
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

How amazing would that be? To see the curvature of the earth...

    What dreams are made of!

One of my favourite pictures is 'the Blue Marble', the first pic of the earth in its entirety from space...imagine seeing that first hand! Now that is a dream.

That picture is awesome. Really puts the size of continents into perspective.

The Astronauts said that going into space made them feel very big and important.
But when they took that picture, it made them realise how small, fragile and vulnerable we really are.
They can't verify which Apollo 17 Astronaut took the picture, but apparently it is the most reproduced image in human history.

Amazing that you can cover 6.5 billion people with your hand

I think it was a one off, but I think there are a few different programs on to celebrate 40 years since the moon landing. BBC are always good at doing this, like all the documentaries they had on for the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwins birth.

Im gonna keep an eye out for the documentary that andituk mentioned too.

Also, James Mays book '20th century' had a really good section in it about the space race and moon landing.

    All mind-blowing stuff

  • Apollo 13 the movie always gets my interest, even if it's a bit dated now! Still a good info-movie & Tom Hanks et al make it very realistic.

The view from that spy plane was unbelievable, the white fluffy clouds and the blue glow under a perfectly black sky - so beautiful! It must have been an incredible experience!
