Hi, i was wondering if there would be ANY pointt upgrading my TT frame from my Alu 07 transition frame to a planet x pro stealth one. Considerign i could probabily sell the old one for a few hundred it wouldn't csot all that much. but would it be worth it?

Depends how you classify "Worth it". I've just built up a TT bike using the Planet X stealth frame and believe it represents outstanding value for money. Plus customer service from Ian was the best I've ever come across (not just in the bike world but any consumer transaction).
Lovely frame and if it's good enough for Cuddles Evans to ride in the TdF then I'm sure it'll serve you just fine0 -
I'd stick to a good aluminium frame rather than the cheap carbon ones that Planet X do0

Not sure I agree with dismissing the Planet X frame as "cheap". Yes, it doesn't cost very much but that's more due to Planet X cutting out the middle mans profit margin than a reflection of the quality of the frame. The frames are excellent, the fact that a top pro rider would opt to ride a rebadged one over his main sponsors frame speaks volumes.
Have a hunt around for reviews on TTing forums and the review by Bike Radar if you need more opinions.

Carbon Fibre is such an overrated material on Bikeradar it's unbelievable. People seems to think CFRP frame is automatically better because it's CFRP. Too many people who's only materials knowledge is that generated from advertising and the likes of Cycling Plus live on BR..... CFRP frames can be far far better, but don't expect cheap carbon frames to be better than aluminium frames.
Personally I'd stick with the Transition - doesn't it have internal cable routing? The Stealth doesn't. Personally I reckon the cable routing would make a greater different to the speed than the frame material.0 -

What/who are you ranting at Red?
Have you got any experience of the 2 specific frames the OP is seeking to compare, or are you just looking to have a moan about how carbon is overrated on BikeRadar? I don't think the question was "should I change my Transition for a Stealth because I NEED CARBON!!!!?".
If I can throw in my experience of the Stealth, I'll have to say it's the best value frame I've bought in 25 years (in any material). The lack of internal cabling is more than adequately offset for me by its impressive rigidity through the BB. It's heavy for a carbon frame, but all that extra material makes it rock solid. I've never ridden a Transition, but if you do decide to changee it, the Stealth would be a great choice.0 -
I have heard so many good things about it that it, inc post above, that i think i will keep my eyes open for a second hand one sometime (if that EVER happens), i don't need it immediately. Thanks for all the replies.
I understand that carbon fibre is very subjective to the building process, i.e weave structure etc... but that doesn't mean the stealth IS just a badly built bike, just that some are.0 -

Yep the cheaper Treks are made in the far east, which is why I wouldn't touch one and have a Madone 6.9 Pro0 -

Oops hit return too quickly.
As Redddraggon says, there are so many people on the BR forums that think because they've got a Carbon Fibre frame that they've got a better bike than those riding alu. Every one raves about Planet X bikes in carbon for under £1k. Yeah that's because they've all got them on the Cyclescheme and think " I must get carbon" The most important part on your bike is the frame, so why buy something that is made of cheap carbon just for the sake of having carbon?
That's my opinion!! Now I'll got get a beer and wait to be shot down by the Planet X owners club.0
