Hi All,
I am training really well at the moment getting plenty on cycling (20 plus miles per outing) in 2 to 3 times per week and twice out running per week (4 miles per outing). My personal goals at the moment are as follows:
* Gain further fitness.
* Successfully compete in dualthlon and time trial events.
* Lose 1 stone in weight and hopefully as a result end up with a flat stomach.
However, even though I am putting in loads of training I cannot beat the beer and snack cravings!!!
I am currently weighing in at 13 stone 10 lbs and am 6 feet tall. Although I am not fat, I am not as trim as I would like to be (just under 13 stone is my target).
I am totally motivated with my training but cannot beat the beer and food cravings which are worse on evenings and weekends.
I need to get myself motivated with my diet as I know that the result of this will put me in better stead with my above targets.
Does anyone have any motivation advice to get me out of the fridge?
Cheers,
Tino.

Sounds similar to me a while back - then I had a high blood pressure reading - which got me motivated - and I cut down on the junk........heres what I found helpful...
Try limiting your carbs - I find that eating sandwiches and bread - makes me hungrier than when I started. Apparently this creates a carbo rush - and your body screams 'gimme some more'
Stock up with tons of fruits - apples, bananas , etc - eat these when your hungry.
Make a note of what time you get hungry - for example - if you get a real craving at 7pm - 9pm and 11pm - try and hang on until 7.30 - then 7.45 - eventually one of the hunger cravings will disappear.
good luck !0 -

Easiest way I found was to eat far smaller portions - I went from ~ 14.2 stone (weightlifting/eating) to 10.75 stone over 2 years or so - I'm now at a nice Race-weight, and keeping it off very easily - I just don't eat too much, and ride regularly (and hard) throughout the week. Literally sometimes just sit there and eat dry crackers or a piece of brown bread - doesn't bother me really. But yeah, definately try eating smaller portions.
Lager-wise, I only drink the small 25 CL bottles - hardly drink now compared to my late-teens.0 -
This program had some very good suggestions

Unfortunately its been removed from Iplayer but can be found here if you have bittorrent

One of the suggestions I can agree with is keeping a food diary. Its a bit of a chore but does make it clear where the calories come from which helps make decisions about what to cut out.
In my case I choose not to cut out the beer, rather will either eat a little less of something else or do some more training to burn up the calories. (a pint is only 200 calories or so ) Hasnt done me too much harm, I keep weight around 11st (5'8"), did the Dragon in 6 hours last weekend and 100TTin under 4 hours today.Martin S. Newbury RC0
