Hiya!
Well, I had a look at a second hand steel frame road bike today but didn't buy - a bit too much needed doing and I haven't got the time or inclination. However, I really like the look of the traditional frames, thin steel tubes etc, and was wondering, if I were to buy a new steel road bike, where should I be looking? I know a lot of smaller and made to order companies do steel but I've not got the budget for bespoke. Any ideas/recommendations, please?
Thanks,
Steve

Though there's lots about on the classifieds and eBay if you search for "Reynolds"
It's worth taking a look at http://www.reynoldstechnology.biz/ to understand the different tubing or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reynolds_Cycle_Technology

Ebay is always a good place to look for used steel frames. It really depends on what you're looking for - most of those listed above pretty well fit into the 'traditional' British steel frame, whereas there are lots of Italian builders who will give you a bit more flair - e.g. Pegoretti, Scapin, Colnago & Gios. The market for off-the-peg steel frames is fairly limited too. Finally, Planet-X have a limited number of new Guerciotti frames for £400Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

A Dawes Audax bike from Spacycles, if they have any of the 2007 range left.
My first steel frame road bike, the Audax Supreme is lovely on bumpy roads, a heck of a lot more comfortable that aluminium.'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....0 -
