Puncture resistant tyres for a Hybrid bike

Hi,
I have a Crosstrail Expert '09 with the standard 700 x 45c Borough CX tyres.
Does anyone know if you an get these in ARMADILLO (puncture resistant) tyres in a 700 x 45c? As I have not found them anywhere.
Or can anyone suggest an alternative that maintains the off & on road capabilities of the original 45c tyre?
Ive seen the Continental Travel Contacts at 700 x 42 with puncture protection - these might be the best alternative? Would it make a 'big' difference going from 45c to 42? Im not too familiar with tyre sizes etc.
Also, what do people make of the Crosstrail range?
Many Thanks.

The only decent punture resistant tyre is:

I ride with these at least 5 days a week and am yet to have a punture.
They are a little skinnyer (35c) but I couldnt find anything wider however these are the best!

Agree with above. I've got 32mm marathon pluses for commuting - not one puncture. Try Spa Cycles for the best prices.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

I'd advise going narrower anyway. You only need more than 32mm for loaded offroad touring IMO. Or mtbing.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

I ride 28C Armadillos - originally 32C spec. Much better handling and no punctures in 5 years. I read the SMP are very hard to get on and off and are heavy, very heavy.Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.
Think how stupid the average person is.......
half of them are even more stupid than you first thought.0 -
+1 marathon plus, there is no other properly puncture proof tyre i have used or come accross, people who have had puncctures with them are either very stupid and have installed them badly and pinched tube etc or shot them!Carbon fibre, it's all nonsense. Drink beer. Ride a steel bike. Don't be a ponce.0

and if it's needed another vote for the marathon plus. I reckon you could ride em over edge on sharpened razor blades, James Bond style tetrahedral nails and broken glass and they'd just sneer at you. Bit heavy but then if you go for a smaller tyre than your 45s I suspect they'll be similar"The only absolute statement is that everything is relative" - anon0
