How long do outsoles last?

Hi all,

I am planning to invest on a pair of SPD shoes but it seems to me most MTB shoes don't have replaceable outsoles apart from the Sidi dragon. So, how long do these rubber outsoles last?

I am specifically looking at Shimano M122 and will probably use them with Look Quartz pedals as I am a fan of the Look roadie Keos. Any thoughts and advice welcome.

I've got a pair of Lake shoes that should have been £50 that I paid £5 for and they still have much life in them at present. The only things to have worn are the SPD cleats and the metal covers for the toestuds which I replaced with the bolt out of a stud suitably shortened.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Cleats wearing out? Aren't SPD cleats recessed into outsoles so it is protected and you can walk without the metal cleats wearing out?

they still do were out as they do touch the ground.

What do you mean by Out soles?

if you mean the rubber soles then yes they do wear down as you walk on them and the area around the cleat can get cut up with poor clipping in.

but generally that last as long as the rest of the shoe.

Should have said that the Lakes are around 8 years old. To age them better, when did Caratti Sport go under when based in Aztec West nr Brizzle?

Yeah it's the rubber bit that I'm talking about, the bit that you walk on. Thanks guys, I think I will go ahead and get those M122, I just bought a pair of Look Quartz as well, got a good deal on it. 39.63 + free shipping!
