Hi everyone,

I've just bought my first real bike and plumbed for the Bad Boy as above. Edinburgh Bicycle Coop have their 15% sale this weekend and add in the Bie to Work scheme, I thought this was a pretty good deal. :D
I did consider the Marin Muirwood but once I tried them out, I decided the Bad Boy was the best option for me.

I would appreciate some feedback - good, bad and indifferent on whether I have made a good choice.

Rule 1 of big ticket item shopping - stop shopping as soon as you buy 'cos its too late.

I personally don't know the bike, but I don't think Canondale make crap frames at any price. If anything, you may find that to make the price level, a Canondale will have cheaper finishing kit. But hey, in time everything on a bike wears out, and at least you know the frame will be worth whatever you put on it (within reason).

Go and buy a decent lock!!

Bought a lock at the same time as the bike - didn't have good quality locks before but think the one I got will do the job (think!) - hey if they want it they'll find a way but hopefully this'll slow them down.

Does it have those 'octopus' pedals on?

For some reason they always really annoyed me.

Its a good frame with reasonable components for that price. As far as hybrids go with 26" wheels and disc brakes its more of hard tail mountain bike than a road bike.

What are you planning on using it for?

it had the octopus pedals. rubbish in damp conditions. sold on feabay to a frenchy doing up their bike. Shimano 645's on now.

its not 26" actually. they're 700's and with 700x25's i can break 30mph most days on the way home from work without tucking in. its a good road bike. more comfy than the drop bar bike i had and about the same commute times too. 45 minutes for 14 miles. thats alright for a sports hybrid i reckon.

its doing the c2c in september with some 35mm wide tyres added
