tyre pressures

Hi all,
I am fairly new to road biking, but have a Giant TCR Alliance Zero. They tyres are Michelin Lithion. I don't have a tyre pressure monitor and was wondering how hard the tyres should be when pumped up please? I am just off out now and I have pumberd them up so you can push them in slightly with two hands around the rim. I heard they are supposed to be very hard. I am just worried about over inflating them. Thanks all, Matt.

Hi Matt,
I'd really recommend getting yourself a track pump with a pressure gauge - it makes the whole job much easier/quicker. It can be jolly hard work getting tyres up to the correct pressure with a minipump (I guess that's what you're currently using?) and while you can get a very rough idea of pressure by squeezing the tyres there's no reliable way of knowing without using a gauge.0 -
Hi there and thanks for your help. Yes I am using a minipump! I was thinking I'd get a guage. I'd like to go out now though and was just wondering if it's easy to over inflate as I'm a bit worried in case I have!!!!0

The Michelin web site allows you to down load a chart called "The importance of air pressure" This give guidance on the appropriate pressure based on riders weight and tyre size. Don't forget that the wheel rim will have an upper limit as well as the tyre.
