I've heard some pretty bad reviews about these, but I was in need of some new tyres at a reasonable price and thought I'd give these a try. They are great:
They were easy to fit nice and lose unlike other tyres within the 10-15 pound price bracket.
They look great.
I've raced on them and they have some real accecleration.

They handle well.

So despite the bad reviews i think their pretty good really.

Anyone else got any opinons on them or got a set ?

Cheers

I can't beleive anybody has anything bad to say about these - sometimes you can get them for under £10 - I used to ride tricomps - twice the cost - the rubinos are almost as good.

they used to be £6 from Wiggle

    £6!!

a bargain and excellent tyres! - i use them all the time and only recently bought some expensive tyres to put on my posh bike - I thought I might be doing an injustice to my expensive Roubaix by having £6 tyres on it - so bought some end-of-line 'CSC' edition Vittoria Open Corsa Evos when Wiggle did them for £39 a pair (actually paid £34 for them through some weird voucher offer if I remember right!)
while the evo corsas are great tyres - much lighter and comfier even at higher pressures - they are many times the price of the rubinos
(and `i have already had a p@ncture on the evo corsas whereas i cannot remember the last time I had a puncture on rubinos!!)

I agree. I used to run the Rubinos on my old Halfords bike and I think I got a puncture once. I have had more punctures/failures with Michelin Krylion Carbons than Vittoria Rubinos.

My Rubinos (Pro Slicks) have been bombproof, but they do feel really sluggish compared to my other tyres.

I used to have rubino on my carerra, then changed to Michelin Pro Race 3's

my word, I had more puctures that ever with michelins.... on one ride I had 3 punctures 2 in the back and one in the front!

The michelins were smooth and very quick, but as thin as a balloon!

so changed back to vittoria, got the open corsa cs - not goint to tempt fate but ok so far!
I log all my cycling on http://www.cyclestats.co.uk it's great and it's FREE!!

I have ridden a pair of standard Rubinos for the last 2 thousand miles with no punctures. Getting tired of lugging a pump and spare tube round for nothing!

    Hate them.

They feel like they are made of wood, only without the grip.

I've got them on my Carrera, no problems at all. Not entirely convinced that the GP4000S' I have on my good bike are actually noticeably better.

Contis are known as hosepipes, to be fair the Rubinos are very similar to contis IMO

My Rubino pro's have done me proud over the last year.
I ride on city streets everyday, over all the broken glass etc from the nightly yobs.
They have cut up a little but considering how many miles they have done its nothing compared to my new set of Pro 3's.
They offer me excellent grip and have not once let go on me in even the worst weather.

Yep the standard Vittoria Rubinos used to be 6 or 7 quid last year - great value for money and competent budget tyres - much prefer the Rubino Pros over the standard Rubinos though - used them back to back over a long period - the standard Rubinos are still great though for the price - currently using the Diamante Pro's - been excellent regards fast light (190g) great grip summer tyres with good enough puncture protection - can't fault any of the Vittoria tyres Ive tried really - all good in different ways.

Spoke to soon .....punctured this morning !!! - one those horrible ones - where you don't find anything in tyre - and the rest of your ride is filled with worry ......unless you carry more than one tube !

Thinkinf of buying a few of these, for a variety of bikes :-)

I can see the rigid ones for £9.25 at parkers, folding are a fair bit more,

Any disadvantage in rigid over folding?

Unless they've improved the rubber compund in the last few years, I wouldn't touch them. I had a set of Pros that had so little grip in the wet I was actually wheel spinning just trying to pull away from a stop. Then they dumped me on the floor on a damp corner. Then I took them off and switched to Continental (GP3000 back then). If you want cheap tyres maybe try Vredestein Ricorso

Is Vittoria Rubino Italy's answer to Victoria Pendleton?

They're quite a bit heavier - depends on what you're happy with day to day - Rubino Pros are an excellent mid-range mid-price tyre - obviously, you can get better if you spend more, but for ~ £16 there's not much better. If you've got the cash, personally I'd get the Pro Folding's.
