Des, you are right: CTT Competition Records
And besides, 839km = 521.34 miles if I use the right conversion :x
Maybe CN can't work out kilomopeters either.0 -
Must boil down to who ratifies the record? The article doesn't say under whose rules it was a record.............

The world record part isn't the most amazing thing about that article...it's the very last line:Roux also holds another world record for climbing the famous Mont Ventoux an incredible eleven times in 24 hours.
A friend of mine doing recon before this year's etape said that Ventoux was 'soul destroying' after it took him over 2 hours to climb it.0 -

Pah! It's only 17,000m of vertical ascent - you make it sound like it would be hard0

Probably woudn't be...if the 17,000m of ascent wasn't coming as part of 240,000m of riding...0 -
Depending on which of the 3 routes used, Mont Ventoux is around 1,600m elevation gain.

11 x 1,600 = 17,600m0 -
Wasn't disputing the ascent
Was half-joking that it probably 'wouldn't be hard' if the entire ride wasn't over 240,000m.0 -
Seriously, I don't know whether he climbed it with ropes or with a bicycle?0
