Passed on an inner tube this morning. Poor chap was struggling to patch a hole right up next to the presta valve. The look on his face, he was so surprised! I said I'm sure he'd do the same at some point, and rode off feeling really pleased to have caused a smile like that!
OK, and maybe feeling a little smug and virtuous too...

...that'll teach me if I get a p*ncture on the way home though. I only carry one spare inner at the moment...

(touch wood, not had one since getting the bike so one more ride should be OK!)

    What's an inner tube? :?

I really must put my repair kit together. I'm spoiled (or lazy) as there are at least 7 bike shops between home and work and the one time I had a puncture, bruv fixed it for me

Oh yes, good on you SJ :D

One thing I've found with inner tubes is to put a bit of CHalk on them, then wrap them in a bag. Makes getting them into the bike without taking the tyre off a lot easier. I don't think I'd be able to fit 2 in my saddle bag. Well not along with patch kit, multi tool, levers & one of those pack down waterproofs...

    EDIT: There, that's better.

One thing I've found with inner tubes is to put a bit of talk on them

"that's it, inner tube, slide on nice and easy - well done, you're doing great, keep it up, now, let me slip the tyre on over you, shouldn't hurt a bit - there you go! Good inner tube! That wasn't so bad, was it?"

Surely a missed opportunity for some blow/pumping action there?

Hah, yes - so at least if I do get in trouble hopefully I'll be able to patch myself up!

Did the tube you gave out have a hole in it?

I can imagine the poor man sitting beside the road, his smile drooping as he realises that the evil woman must have been playing a joke on him.

Good on you for sharing the rubber(!) this morning. Bad luck on the 'puter.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
