Land Rover Lyra vs. Giant Rock Ladies

Hi all,
After finding some extremely useful advice on bikes on this forum I recently bought an 07 Giant Boulder Trail for £160. I now want to get a bike for my girlfriend, but money is tight. The sort of riding she'll be doing is very much beginner, odd bits of roads but mostly XC. Definitely at the "pottering" end of mountain biking!
I've spent the evening hunting for deals, and found a couple of bargains. I know that Giant bikes are well respected, and that the Rock is the entry level bike in the range, so I think I'd be fairly safe to go for that for £180 (i think it's an 08 model).
However, I've also found a Land Rover Lyra for £140 (RRP £200) here: http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... _Bike_2007. I've searched quite extensively on this site and others but can't find much info on this bike (or Land Rover bikes in general).
If possible, I'd rather save £40 and go for the Land Rover but I know nothing about them. Can anyone tell me whether I'll be getting a substandard bike in comparison with the Giant?
Or, does anyone know of any current offers for either women's bikes or men's bikes that would be suitable for an average height woman?
Cheers,
Luke

Too be honest, for the value it looks alright, alot better than anything in this price range.
full specs here

Usually Land Rover bikes are expensive for the components but being a 2007 model, this is why its so cheap.0 -
For £140, it is ok. Will be fine for forest paths, bridleways and some easy XC.
Boulder is better specced, but if the Lyra fits and for the riding above, go for it.0 -
I think you may find Winstanleys can no longer supply that bike. I'd check with them before doing any more research on it.0

Thanks for all your replies. Good to know that I'm not too far off the mark with the Land Rover.
I noticed that Winstanleys have none in stock, so have also been looking at the Matarari, which I gather is the absolute entry level - one down from the Lyra. http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/produ ... _Bike_2008
The spec of the matarai is:
Frame: 7005 Series Alloy
Fork: Suntour M2000
Rear Gear: Shimano TX
Rear Freewheel: 7sp Shimano
Shift Controls: Gripshift MRX 21sp
Brakes: Tektro Alloy V Brakes
Wheels: Alloy Rims, Alloy Hubs
Chainset: Suntour XCC
Tyres: Innova 26x2.0
Which I guess represents cheaper components than found on the Lyra. This bike (being a 2008) is £10 more at £150, so only £30 different to the Giant. Would the lower spec and higher price tip anyone toward the Giant, or does the Matarari still represent good value for money?
Thanks again,
Luke0
