you're doing 54 miles a day on 2.7 inch knobblies and you want some advice?

defo go wiv drops, more hand positions - more comfort - can get lower and more aerodynamic and faster too.0 -
Dunno m8, shud do, less resistance from the ol' rollers
Seriously though, you might be taking the p1ss but if not then you seem pretty quick so i think you should be flying pretty soon after getting used to a 'proper' bike......winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Go with some drops - if you don't like em - just ride on bar tops or brake hoods - but if you ever them they are there0

(17mph average on a 27 mile ride is quick on a knobblied mountain bike) IMOwinter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

Look at the Sirrus. Excellent bikes. 22 i think will be a bit big for you. 19 may be better.
Actually 19 may be a bit small and 22 may be a bit big. It'll ultimately depend on your riding position u find most comfortable.
22 for more upright position - more comfortable, but slower
19 for more aero and faster position.
Ride before you buy0 -
yea my mate said it was pretty quick, im pretty fit i play county squash and play 5days a week, and do lots of mtbing on weekends
but yea there is a lot of drag on the mtb so i have 2 go flat out most of the time to keep mometum up! do u think a 22" frame will be ok as im 5'10" ?????? thanks for the advice guys0 -

gotta be a wind up - you must have legs like bleedin' steel0
-
no no i train hard with squash so my legs are pretty good, iv been training hard for about 3/4 years day-in day-out so my legs are good to go0

Y not go 4 a drop bar? :?
Out of curiosity what's the gearing on your MTB?winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

its a orange clockwork bike with 24 gears gears are shimano0

Why have you dismissed a full on road bike with drop type handle bars?
You have a decent mountain bike you could just stick slicks on it for road use to see what difference it will make but at that speed, in my opinion, you'll be wasting your money on a hybrid.
P.s sorry should have been more clear but meant; how many teeth do you run on the rings on your crank and same with your cassette at the mo?winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

17mph average over 30 miles on an MTB with Maxxis High Rollers....???
Seriously - give up the squash and concentrate on a pro cycling career....0 -
do u draft off buses at all? Cause That's some nice pace you have there!!
But then, knoblies are not as slow as generally perceived0 -
no i just bike as simple as keeping the pace up is key i think but as u say the high rollers pumped up hard aint that bad really but i think it will be better with thiner tyres and i hope to up the av speed maybe to 20 one of my mates bikes for norfolk and is of to the us to do a triaf-lon for england and the other bikes a reg 50 miles in 3hrs he is also a squash player!!!!!!!! so if u want to be fast play squash hahhahahahahahahahhaha0
