..but a bit lip and inside cheek were enough for me to email the council again. I've come to the point where I wonder if I'm doing myself more harm than good on certain roads. My own road nearly had me off today and the bump made my jaw bounce and bite into me. NEVER had that happen before.

:x

I shall email my MP soon over this too. Its just stupid, I told the council what some have told me - that they'd like to try cycling but frankly find it uncomfortable. Southampton has some of the worst roads in the south, you might as well just have dirt roads at this rate!

I gave a list of roads in my email, but to be frank about this it is pretty much any road you use here. I can take about 7 different ways into work but its the same old story. :x I dont want to sound like it should be done for just us on bikes, I'm sure its damaging cars and motorbikes.

Bah!

What kind of bike have you got?

Maybe consider replacing it with a hybrid. You could search the forum for advice, but it's easier to just create a new topic.

PS. Thorry about the injury, hope it health thoon.

I've got a Jake, bought because its tough as hell for around here. Really cannot be bothered with hybrids. I'm usually pretty good at using me legs as suspension but this took me by suprise. It must have become worse overnight or I must have changed my angle of approach.

Still, I do feel theres no excuse for this.

Just got an email back from the council. The 20 or so roads I listed have all been logged and sent to the Highways team. Though other complaints in the past have been logged and nothing done, or at best someone comes along and jams a bit of left over gear in the hole which cracks out within 6 weeks. :?

I've also emailed my MP now. I asked what could he do, could he lobby the government, etc to get more money.

Does your council have some form of cycling group/task force?

Well they have a cycling officer. Poor b&£$ard seems to have to deal with the entire of Southampton and the surrounding areas.

He could fill it himself and reclaim the costs on expenses... Oh wait....

LOL well there was some argument in the news about £2500 he claimed, I forget for what.. something for a London home I think. Generally he's been a pretty good MP, though.
