I've just taken a job in London and, as I'll be commuting from Scotland have decided it's too far to cycle.
Thankfully, I've arranged for a room in a flat in Kilburn about 5 or 6 miles away from the office (which is just off High Holborn)
I can keep a bike at the flat and understand there is secure parking at the office so I plan to take one of my bikes (probably a roadie as London looks flat - at least compared to my previous commute into Edinburgh).
However, as I'll be away from family during the week, are there any local clubs (touring or not too serious racing - I'm 48 and more of a long distance guy) where I could stop myself thinking about being away from home during the week. Obviously the social side will be useful.
I'll also be able to take part in the commuting race, but might need to detour to make it a decent length of run in and back ;-)

Kilburn is overlapping terrority for my lot (the Archer Road Club) and the Willesden Cycling Club. The Willesden is a lot more touring orientated - they run a relaxed pace club run - so they are probably your best bet.
Most activities run either from Denham (just west of Uxbridge) or a the Hillingdon Cycle Circuit.
5 minutes on Google should give you all the contact details you'll need.0 -

Chewa - keep an eye on the Morpeth Social Club thread too, in case folks are meeting up on a night when you're in town.
When do you start down here?FCN 2-4.

@chewa - I often commute from Willesden via Kilburn, heading towards London Bridge. Give me a nudge if you want any route help. Fixed/SS is all you'll need.

Agreed with the rest. Kilburn to Holborn is nice and flat all the way. I started cycling about a year ago, ditched the gears after 6 months and have been riding fixed ever since.0
