Just put a deposit down on a shiny new road bike
Gotta wait a week and a half to get it from my LBS, but they're gonna give me an hour long set up/fitting along with the normal free service and great customer service.
Canny wait.... its the 1st time i've managed to try a road bike that actually fits me and they feel superb!!!
Just something to keep me occupied when I can use the MTB

Edit: well I am now.
I just wanna improve my fitness + it gives me something to do when I can't get to the trails0 -
so what is it?"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

oops thort I'd said that.
Its a Giant Defy 3. http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-GB/bik ... 428/32462/
Tried a Trek 2.1 and Raleigh something and the Giant was much more suited. Loved the ride.
I was going to go for a ribble, but the frame on the Giant is very very nice. Same frame as the higher end Defy, just with lower end componentry0 -
Hah a kilo heavier than mine with pedals

I did try a lighter one (the raleigh) but I didn't feel safe on it.... it felt very fragile!0 -

The 12 year old Zaskar LE lol.
Is about 22.5lbs actually, but will be less with the new tyres and rigids.0 -

Been toying with the idea for ages but never managed to try anything that fitted.0 -
I hope the roadies don't read anything into the drugs reference! Wasn't meant that way lol0

Got more of a response in the MTB forum than over there anyways
The guy in the shop asked if I wanted Lycra and I nearly fainted...... it'd be like a polarbear in a wetsuit0 -
bigbenj_08 wrote:GF waxed my feet last week for fun... may as well stick with that method
I've got a few hairs on me big toes but nowt worth waxing monkeyboy!
Waxing does hurt though...0 -
im in the same boat, except i am still in my research stage at the moment. Defy 4 is on my short list tho."It is not impossible, its just improbable"

you not getting the lycra then bigbenj?
also you'll ride your road bike a few times and then you'll get addicted, and then you'll be bitten by the roadie bug and get training and then you'll come to resent your MTB and then in 5 years time, you'll be a fully shaven uber fit roadie with a tan!Ribble Gran Fondo

Got some tighter shorts so i'll wear them for now0 -
I was drawn to the dark side at the start of the year with one of these and must say i do enjoy just jumping on it and going for a blast from time to time but mountain bikes are still where my hearts at tbh

Did point out I'd now need a road helmet, shoes, shorts, bottle cage, tool wedgie etc but I think that might have been a push too far. She wasn't best pleased I'd had to buy the pedals seperately.
Can't wait for it to turn up next week. 8)It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0
